About Me:

Back in school, I had a fair share of uninspiring teachers who just seemed to be going through the motions. Classes were always a bore! Seeing that, I made a promise to myself to never be like them.

One thing that always bugs me is when my students say they're just “bad at math" or that it's impossible to get. But I’m here to tell you that that’s not true at all. My goal is to show the next generation of students that math isn't a mysterious, impossible puzzle. It’s not a difficult subject at all! In fact, once you understand why things work, you will see math in a whole new light.

It's not just about getting the right answer, it's about enjoying the process of getting there. Once they learn to enjoy the subject, the hard work will kick in. And trust me, that A they've been aiming for? It’s well within reach.

My students describe me as:

My lessons are tough, the work I give is crazy and it can be very mentally exhausting. Studying for O-levels is a mental marathon, no doubt. But it all pays off in the end when my students realize what I've been preparing them for. Struggle in my class, but breeze through their school tests afterward and emerge top in class.

This method might not work for everyone, but for most, it does! I've been working at it for six years now, and refining it as I go. The key is simply to put in the hard work and stay true to the course.

What our students say

"i met kaiwen when my friends had invited me to an amath crash course with him. when i came to the crash course, i was fearful as i knew how badly i was doing in amath, and did not dare to ask questions. however, after the crash course, kaiwen approached me to offer his help by joining his tuition class. though at this point it was only 4 months before olevels, i decided to join his class, in hopes that i would improve. during tuition, kaiwen would give us different types of questions and attend to each one of us when we did not understand. he explained the concepts in a very clear manner that i was easily able to grasp the concept, allowing me to learn quickly. outside of class time, kaiwen was dedicated to help me to improve, by providing me with countless questions , as well as answering and explaining the questions i had. through this process, i continuously gained confidence in amath and started liking it, hence spending more time in the subject. in the end, i was able to improve 6 grades since the time i had first started tuition with him, which is a great improvement i never thought i could achieve!"

- Charlotte, F9 to A2,Class of 2023

"amath became increasingly tough to understand, especially during the critical period when prelims were arriving. kw made concepts so much easier to understand and taught me various methods to tackle a variety of questions with ease. apart from that, he’s a dedicated teacher who never fails to push and challenge you, which made me more motivated to do well for the subject🙌🏻🙌🏻!"

- Renae, Class of 2023

"I joined Kaiwen at the recommendation of a friend who was great in math at the start of my Sec 4 year. Originally, I was lagging behind in AMath due to not learning and fully understanding all the topics taught in Sec 3; however, I did not necessarily dislike AMath at the time as I still managed to get high scores early in the year, but definitely struggled with specific topics like trigonometry and graph-related problems.
As a result, the subject was not very appealing to me and I had little to no motivation to work on my flaws alone. However, after a trial lesson with Kaiwen, I found the lessons intriguing as he dealt with and went through questions tougher than typical ones. Although it seemed counter-intuitive to jump the gun to that level of difficulty, I realised that only through those practices was I able to see how to apply formulas and techniques related to specific topics to their fullest.  In addition, he also gamified completing hard practices, which although childish at first glance, proved effective as motivation to improve my AMath calibre. Not to mention the fact that he also provided many practices, papers, notes, and timed practices all for free!
After many lessons and practices, I can confidently say that Kaiwen was a big help in pushing my O Level AMath score up to an A1!"

- Ean Shaw, C5 to A1, Class of 2023

"i joined Kaiwen’s class because i was failing every single amath test in sec 3, and knowing math makes up half of my L1R5 (math, amath, physics), i thought it would be smart to get help. luckily i picked the right tutor and immediately i scored A1 in the next amath test, and highest in kaiwen’s class. It was probably a mix of he’s a good teacher and motivator ($$💵🎁🏆) but also i was a fast learner, so i saw improvements immediately. While i was never incapable of doing math, i was lazy and missed out on chapters so kaiwen’s tution rlly filled in the gaps smoothly. Would recommend Man!"

- Nicole, C6 to A1, Class of 2023

"Before joining Kw’s classes, i was constantly scoring F9s in Add Maths and had a lack of understanding and interest towards of the subject. Kw is an exceptionally dedicated teacher who consistently refines his teaching methods each year for diverse student groups. He fosters individual understanding through post-class consultations, cultivating both comprehension and a passion for math. Regardless of their initial academic standing, he has effectively guided numerous students to achieve their desired grades in major exams. Kw’s teaching stands as a reliable and unparalleled blend of exemplary materials and innovative methods, His devoted trust in me and reliable teaching resources have eventually allowed me to score a B3 in my O lvl exam. Thank you Cher!!!"

- Destinee Lau, F9 to B3, Class of 2023

"Kai wen has been a wonderful math tutor for me ever since i joined his lesson in early 2023 and throughout the year, he has been actively supporting and encouraging us to do our best in our math by helping us in whatever way he can possible and also ensuring that we fully understand the concept of what he is teaching so that we can easily do different type of questions of the same topic/concept instead of simply copying and pasting what we only know. He has also helped us expand what type of math questions we are exposed to by providing us with math questions of different levels and difficulties in order for us to fully understand the topic. Thank You Kaiwen for your support and help throughout my sec 4 O level journey and my improvement wouldn't have been possible without meeting you 😄"

- Zavier, F9 to B4, Class of 2023

"Kaiwen is an efficient and effective teacher that helps his students understand key concepts well and also gives useful exams tips . Apart from effectively engaging students in class, he will check on students from time to time making sure they are following the class together which helps students keep on track."

- Zachary, C6 to A2, Class of 2023

"Kaiwen was fantastic. I really love a teacher who imparts humour and joy to his or her class. His explanation is very clear cut and digestible, which students nowadays do prefer compared to lengthy explanations. I found the vectors session very useful and was enlighten through Kaiwen’s teaching. It helped me reinforce my foundation for vectors and I found joy in doing vector. Despite not knowing any of the teachers there, they were kind ,outgoing and willing to help, which really shows that the tutors are professional and approachable."

- Jass Lee, Class of 2022

"Kaiwen is an extremely caring and patient tutor. He explains concepts very well and he exposes us to a variety of question types in the curated notes for us to get familiar with answering. He helped me to understand many concepts in A- Math in a short period of time before O’ Levels started, and I have improved significantly since then. I can see that he has a huge passion for teaching and helping students too."

- Jolie, Class of 2022

"I went from getting a F9 to a C6 for my prelims , and I think for O levels I won’t be getting too bad of a result, and its mostly thanks to Kaiwen HAHA thank you for helping me improve math and like the subject more"

- Aik Peng, F9 to A2, Class 2021

"After I joined for a month plus then it was already Mid-Year Exams and I didn’t do well and got a C6 then when it came to prelims I didn’t really revise or anything, but I did the homework that was given after tuition and cleared my doubts if I had any. somehow that pushed me to an A2 for prelims and everyone was shocked including myself. the homework that was given was harder than the exam papers itself and it made the questions seem easier for me. my teachers and peers also asked me how I did it but all I did was to pay attention in tuition class so yeah and his method of teaching is different and takes time to get used to it but it’s effective."

- Hui Xian, F9 to A2, Class of 2020

"Thanks a lot Kaiwen for helping me with my H2 Math! I never passed math in JC until prelims, which was only a D, but managed to get A for Alevels!!! A lot of it can be accredited to Kaiwen’s double lessons because 4 hours of math tuition at a time really does something to a person… The consistent exposure to an array of different questions rlly helped me ingrain different answering methods into my brain and let me be more flexible w my thinking. Thanks for helping me fulfil my hidden potential! Really happy with my results!! THANK YOUUU 👼🏽👼🏽"

- Suan Yee, U to A, Class of 2025

I first joined Kaiwen’s math classes in the middle of my JC1 journey, i was struggling to cope with the rigour of H2 math. During the first few lessons with him, i had difficulty tackling the new math concepts. However, when Kaiwen noticed my struggle to grasp the new concepts, he took the initiative to slow down and explain things using ideas and analogies that were relatable and much easier to understand. His patience and love for teaching was evident to me, and encouraged me to work hard and put in the necessary effort to improve my grade. Additionally, Kaiwen would also go the extra mile to get to know us better by making jokes and making an effort to understand our struggles, whether academic or non-academic. Through his teaching and care for his students, I started to gain confidence in my math abilities and developed a stronger interest in the subject, ultimately culminating in a distinction in H2 math, for which i could not be more grateful!

- Natalie, Class of 2025

I’ve been in Kaiwen’s class since secondary school. I joined his class because I struggled with A Math and E Math and wasn’t performing well. His lessons were incredibly useful as he would cover a wide range of question types. This gave me exposure to different kinds of questions and eventually helped me achieve an A1 in both Math… although I thought I had messed up the paper. Moving forward, I joined his H2 Math classes as I was struggling with the rigor of Math again. He would always notice my struggle to grasp new concepts and took the initiative to use analogies that were relatable and much easier to understand. He also goes the extra mile and always makes an effort to check up on us and how we are doing in general. He is very patient and always puts in the effort to answer all the questions I have. His support has helped me achieve a distinction in H2 Math, for which I am incredibly grateful.

- Yuki, Class of 2025

I joined Kaiwen’s maths classes at the start of J1, as I felt my school’s lecture videos were confusing. From the start, he was able to condense complex and difficult concepts into bite size, more digestible bits for us to understand. He also has his own methodologies to help students memorise math concepts easily especially the model method for graphs and transformations. On a more personal level, I can feel that Kaiwen really wants us to do well by always clarifying our doubts pertaining to the content taught. His guidance was instrumental in helping me to achieve my distinction in h2 maths for which i could not be more grateful for.

- Jia Yang, Class of 2025

I met Kaiwen during a crash course programme and decided to join his tuition group 2 months before promos out of desperation to improve my then S/U grade for math. during his lessons, not only are we provided with extra practices, he also explains tough concepts in such simple terms, making it easy to understand. I was able to practice and reinforce the concepts I learnt in school during his tuition lessons and slowly gained the confidence to participate in class proactively without fear of getting laughed/scolded for getting the answers wrong. through such interactive lessons, I was able to verbalise what I understood and have my doubts cleared immediately. kaiwen is a very patient tutor too and deeply cares for his students as seen from the countless consultation sessions i've had with him outside of lesson time to correct my misconceptions as much as I might have been a difficult student to teach as my foundations were weak. In the end, after staying with him all the way until A levels, my math grade unexpectedly jumped from an S/U to a B, which is something I never thought I could pull off. Thank you Kaiwen!
