Derek Tan
Derek brings over 20 years of rich experience in training and development, focusing on in-service teacher training. His expertise lies in the implementation of new curricula, where he has guided educators through various instructional and organizational processes. Derek has led the Organising Committee for the Instructional Programme Support Group for Biology and served as the Team Leader for the Networked Learning Communities for A Level Biology. He has also contributed as a Curriculum Planning Officer in the MOE Curriculum Planning and Development Division and formerly served as a Senior Teacher of Biology at Raffles Institution.
In addition, Derek has been a trainer for the Raffles Teachers Accreditation Programme, providing essential training to untrained in-service teachers. He is also an accomplished Instructional Mentor for the Instructional Mentoring Programme and a mentor for the Structured Mentoring Programme. His specialized training covers a broad spectrum, including instructional mentoring, developmental supervision, assessment and measurement, and curriculum development.
Derek's qualifications are further enhanced by his completion of the Management and Leadership in Schools Programme. His achievements include being recognized with the Outstanding Youth in Education Award, underscoring his commitment and impact in the field of education.
